A-League 2019/20- Round 9 My Preview
This A-League Season is going well from a quality perspective with the product being good, as the football has been good to watch. All 11 teams have got at least a point in 3 of the games that they have played in. Round 8 had no scoreless draws, but 4 teams managed to keep a clean sheet. Hopefully, Round 9 has more goals and therefore the football will be entertaining in Round 9.
Team with Round 9 Bye: Central Coast Mariners
My Choice of a definite winner for this Round: Melbourne City
Friday Night Game
Melbourne City v Perth Glory
Melbourne City should win this game comfortably, although they did lose to the Brisbane Roar in Round 6, 4-3. Perth Glory were probably the better team in Round 8 away from home against Melbourne Victory, but they lost 1-nil, but that’s football. At home Melbourne City would be expecting to claim all 3 points
Melbourne City Game Changer: Jamie Maclaren
Perth Glory Game Changer: Bruno Fornaroli
My Prediction: Melbourne City
Saturday Night Game (Wellington Phoenix)
Wellington Phoenix v Western Sydney Wanderers
This is a difficult game to pick a winner in, but I expect Wellington Phoenix to be strong at home and build some momentum following an impressive win away to Adelaide United in Round 8.
Wellington Phoenix Game Changer: Liberato Cacace
Western Sydney Wanderers Game Changer: Kwame Yeboah
My Prediction: Wellington Phoenix
Saturday Night Game
Sydney FC v Brisbane Roar
Sydney FC have been on top of the A-League ladder, but the Brisbane Roar returned to the winners list, beating the Central Coast Mariners, 2-nil. I am expecting an upset in this game if the Brisbane Roar can perform the way they did in Round 8.
Sydney FC Game Changer: Brandon O’Neill
Brisbane Roar Game Changer: Dylan Wenzel-Halls
My Prediction: Brisbane Roar
Sunday Afternoon Game
Western United v Melbourne Victory
It’s the 1st Melbourne Derby between Western United against Melbourne Victory. Western United have been in bad form and so have Melbourne Victory, despite winning in Round 8. I am expecting Melbourne Victory to win this game as their morale will be boosted from having claimed all 3 points in Round 8.
Western United Game Changer: Josh Risdon
Melbourne Victory Game Changer: Elvis Kamsoba
My Prediction: Melbourne Victory
Sunday Evening Game
Adelaide United v Newcastle Jets
If both teams play to their potential then this should be a cracking contest, it’s 3rd against 7th, but I expect the Newcastle Jets to win this game, as they had an impressive 2-nil win over the Western Sydney Wanderers and their confidence should be high.
Adelaide United Game Changer: George Blackwood
Newcastle Jets Game Changer: Dimitri Petratos
My Prediction: Newcastle Jets
