Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper Josh Oluwayemi saved two penalties in a 3-1 loss against Auckland FC; the first from Sam Cosgrove and the second from Francis De Vries.

Chris Long scored a freakish goal in the 95th minute for Brisbane Roar against Adelaide United, with Roar goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis providing the assist for the only goal of the game.

Round Highlight

The Sydney Derby was a great clash, as there was plenty of spice; it was great to see the A-League being attended by passionate fans.

Perth Glory won for the first time ever at Campbelltown Stadium, against the Bulls.

Perth Glory won consecutive away games for the first time since February 5th, 2021.

A-League Men Round 5 Review 2025/26

Clean Sheets: Two out of 12 teams that played kept a clean sheet.
Draws: There was one draw in six matches.
Round 5 (In a Nutshell): In five out of five matches where a team claimed three points, the winning team had less possession than their opponent.

Round Highlights

Adelaide United were down to ten men from the 36th minute in their game against Melbourne City, winning 4-1; It was a tactical masterclass from Adelaide United coach Airton Andrioli. The only goal that Melbourne City was a goal of the season contender from Takeshi Kanamori.

Former Nottingham Forest player Joe Lolley scored a brace for them in the Big Blue.

Perth Glory won their first game this season against Newcastle Jets: Interim coach Adam Griffiths changing the mentality of the group and a fantastic performance from Glory centre-back Brian Kaltak, who is the captain of Vanuatu.
