Adelaide United: Not at the races
Adelaide United had a day to forget as they deserved to lose 4-0 against Central Coast Mariners.
Brisbane Roar: They ground out a win
Brisbane Roar managed to win a game 1-0, despite only having one shot on target. Their opponents, Melbourne Victory had six shots on target. Jordan Holmes, the Brisbane Roar goalkeeper had a good game.
Central Coast Mariners: Sublime
Central Coast Mariners defeated Adelaide United 4-0. Their display was outstanding. It was great to see a team play attacking football and be clinical.
Macarthur FC: Need to improve
Macarthur FC were all at sea for the first half, but they went into the half time break with a 1-0 break, despite conceding a penalty in first half stoppage time. They were much better in the second half and scored a second goal and won the game 2-0 over the Newcastle Jets. Nevertheless, even Macarthur FC coach Dwight Yorke admitted they need to be more consistent.
Melbourne City: They are in a class of their own
Melbourne City were 3-0 ahead in the 24th minute, predominantly thanks to Marco Tilio. He scored an outstanding goal in the ninth minute that broke the deadlock and provided an assist for the third goal from Jamie Maclaren. They won the game against Western United 4-0.
Melbourne Victory: There are problems
Melbourne Victory can’t seem to score goals. They sit equal last on the A-League Ladder on goal difference. To make matters worse Nani suffered a serious injury and they lost 1-0 to the Brisbane Roar.
Newcastle Jets: They couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net
Newcastle Jets played the better football in the first half, but failed to score, despite winning a penalty in first half stoppage time. They lost to Macarthur FC 2-0.
Perth Glory: A fine display
Perth Glory pressed high up the field and played some good football in a 1-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers.
Sydney FC: Their own worst enemy
Sydney FC managed to lose a game where their opposition had nine men for the final 15 minutes, including second half stoppage time. Sydney FC had two penalty kicks in second half stoppage time, but Adam Le Fondre failed to convert either. They lost to Wellington Phoenix 1-0.
Wellington Phoenix: A win for the ages
Wellington Phoenix won a game that will be remembered forever. They were down to nine men and conceded two penalties in second half stoppage. Sydney FC lost 1-0 in a game that Wellington Phoenix showed plenty of grit and character.
Western Sydney Wanderers: Complacent
Western Sydney Wanderers put in a deplorable display as they went to Perth expecting an easy game. The Perth Glory outplayed the Western Sydney Wanderers and deserved their 1-0 win.
Western United: They were outplayed
Western United were obliterated after the first eight minutes. Everything changed in the ninth minute following a goal to Marco Tilio of Melbourne City. It was simply that Western United lost 4-0 as they weren’t up to the standard of Melbourne City.
