A-League Men What’s your team’s story: Round 13 (Season 2022/23)

Adelaide United: It was tough, but they just did enough

Adelaide United were forced to play most of the game with ten men, as Ben Warland was sent off in the 17th minute. It was a remarkable display by their goalkeeper, Joe Gauci that got them the three points.

Brisbane Roar: A good performance

Brisbane Roar played extremely well against the top of the table Melbourne City, but failed to score and claimed one point when their performance perhaps warranted three points.

Central Coast Mariners: At half time the game looked all over

Central Coast Mariners didn’t look prepared in the first half. They really missed their spiritual leader, Jason Cummings. In the end the Wellington Phoenix were too good.

Macarthur FC: Unlucky considering the circumstances

Macarthur FC had twice as many shots on target as their opponents, even though they parted way with their coach less than 24 hours after the game.

Melbourne City: It wasn’t their best display

Melbourne City should be extremely disappointed with their performance against Brisbane Roar.

Melbourne Victory: They’re in trouble

Melbourne Victory have plenty of problems to address. Their goalkeeper, Matt Acton was arguably their best player in their 3-1 loss to Perth Glory.

Newcastle Jets: No purpose

Newcastle Jets look disjointed as it’s difficult to know who their best starting 11 is.

Perth Glory: They are writing an interesting story

Perth Glory have rebuilt themselves with some great recruiting work by them. They clearly learnt from their lack of good signings of recent times.

Sydney FC: Do they need a change?

Sydney FC didn’t play badly, but didn’t do enough to get anything out of the game in Round 13. There must be some alterations, whether it’s the coach or rotating the players.

Wellington Phoenix: A solid display

Wellington Phoenix were arguably the best team from a performance perspective in Round 13.

Western Sydney Wanderers: Same old problem

Western Sydney Wanderers need to play with more freedom and score more goals. They need to be more clinical in the final third.

Western United: Not their best game, but they got the three points at the end of the day

Western United can thank their goalkeeper, Jamie Young and substitute Alessandro Diamanti for claiming three points when they could easily have had none.
