The deficit for Adelaide United was only two goals thanks to their goalkeeper, Joe Gauci. He saved a penalty for Wellington Phoenix and made some other saves. At the end of the day Adelaide United have plenty of work to do.

Melbourne City: Match Abandoned

Melbourne Victory: Match Abandoned

Newcastle Jets: They have work to do

Newcastle Jets need to improve on the training ground given the fact that they put in a poor display against the Brisbane Roar. The Newcastle Jets had just seven shots, with two of them on target.

Perth Glory: Not clinical in the final third

Perth Glory put in a decent display. Their best two players were probably their wing backs, in Salim Khelifi on the right hand side and Jack Clisby on the left hand side. They would be bitterly disappointed that they didn’t get anything out of the game, in terms of points.

Sydney FC: Faded away

Sydney FC suffered a deserved 2-1 loss to the Central Coast Mariners. Despite the fact that Sydney FC started well and took the lead in the 11th minute, they would be bitterly disappointed with their overall performance. They were the better team early on, but conceded two goals in quick succession before half time and from then on didn’t look like getting anything out of the game.

Wellington Phoenix: The best team in Round 8

Wellington Phoenix threatened to obliterate Adelaide United; Wellington Phoenix played some fantastic football. They were unpredictable in their attacking forays and were clinical in the final the final third scoring three goals in a 3-1 win. They would be disappointed that they didn’t win by more as they had a penalty saved as well as other opportunities curtailed by Adelaide United goalkeeper, Joe Gauci.

Western Sydney Wanderers: Not much to offer in the final third, yet again

Western Sydney Wanderers lost the game against Western United, because they weren’t clinical in the final third. Early in the game Sulejman Krpic had a chance to give Western Sydney Wanderers the lead as he was one on one with the Western United goalkeeper, Jamie Young, but the Western Sydney Wanderers failed to score and lost the game 1-nil.

Western United: Off the bottom of the A-League Men table for now

Western United played some good football, but were fortunate that they played the Western Sydney Wanderers who have a big problem with converting chances. Western United took their chance in the fifth minute of the game and 1-nil was how the score remained. They were well led by their goalkeeper, Jamie Young who kept a clean sheet and James Troisi who had an outstanding game in midfield.
