My Favourite 10 Hawthorn Hawks Players (AFL Season 2020)

10- Blake Hardwick (Defender)

Blake Hardwick is a pivotal part of the Hawks back 6. Hardwick finished 5th in the Hawks 2019 best and fairest.

9- Isaac Smith (Utility)

Isaac Smith is a quality player who averaged 22.47 disposals in 19 of Hawthorn’s 22 games in 2019. Smith has retained his role in the leadership group in Season 2020.

8- Mitch Lewis (Centre Half Forward)

Mitch Lewis is a player that has plenty of ability to be a pivotal part of the Hawthorn forward structure.

7- Sam Frost (Centre Half Back)

Sam Frost was recruited to Hawthorn for a reason; Frost is a quality key defender.

6- Liam Shiels (Midfielder)

Liam Shiels is a player that I have great respect for, in the manner in which he conducts himself. Shiels always keeps feet on the ground and managed to finish 7th in the Hawks 2019 best and fairest. He is a part of the Hawks leadership group for Season 2020.

5- Jonathon Ceglar (Ruckman)

Jonathon Ceglar has been forced to wait a long time before assuming the number one ruck mantle at the Hawks. Ceglar finished Round 1 of Season 2020 with 28 hit outs, which is a key indication that he is a good fit for the Hawks playing as the number one ruckman.

4- James Sicily (Utility)

James Sicily is a player that has plenty of potential as he was the only member of the Hawthorn team named in the initial 2019 AFL All Australian squad of 40. Sicily just needs to keep his feet on the ground.

3- James Worpel (Midfielder)

James Worpel is an extremely talented midfielder that often tgoes under the radar. Worpel is well respected at Hawthorn as he won the 2019 best and fairest.

2- Tom Mitchell (Midfielder)

It’s great to see that Tom Mitchell has recovered from missing the entire 2019 Season through injury if Round 1 of Season 2020 is anything to go by. Mitchell was arguably Hawthorn’s best player on the ground. He has been added to the Hawks leadership group for Season 2020, filling the Vice-Captaincy role.

1- Ricky Henderson (Wing)

Ricky Henderson has improved as he has had a different role at the Hawks playing on a wing, as he was a forward at the Adelaide Crows. Henderson is extremely humble and a good player who managed to finish 2nd in the 2019 Hawthorn best and fairest.
