My Top 5 Most Important Players for Each Team in the A-League 2019/20 Season (Part 2- As of March 23rd)
A player that’s important to a team can be a goal scorer, a goalkeeper or someone who’s an impact player off the bench. The 2nd part of this topic analyses the Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne City. Like part 1 of this exercise, it was interesting to choose the top 5 most important players from the 2 teams!
Central Coast Mariners (Top 5 Most Important Players)
5th Most Important Player- Gianni Stensness played a pivotal role in midfield for the Central Coast Mariners.
4th Most Important Player- Michael McGlinchey deserved much more game time than he got as he is still a quality player.
3rd Most Important Player- Ruon Tongyik didn’t play many games, but the Central Coast Mariners looked a better team with him in it.
2nd Most Important Player- Jordan Murray scored 4 goals and had 2 assists and showed his quality in the Central Coast Mariners last game of the Season against Melbourne City in Round 24.
THE MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER- Milan Djuric is the Central Coast Mariners equal top goal scorer with 4 goals and they look a better team with Djuric in it, he also had 1 assist.
Melbourne City (Top 5 Most Important Players)
5th Most Important Player- Tom Glover is only in 5th, because Melbourne City have a good back up goal keeper in Dean Bouzanis. If not for Bouzanis, Glover would possibly be in the top 3 of Melbourne City’s most important players.
4th Most Important Player- Florin Berenguer scored 3 goals and had 1 assist.
3rd Most Important Player- Josh Brillante- Brillante was a mainstay in the middle of the park. He scored 1 goal and had 3 assists and was extremely reliable.
2nd Most Important Player- Craig Noone- Noone has 4 goals and 5 assists and is a valuable part of most things that prove to be positive in the final third.
THE MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER- Jamie Maclaren- Maclaren is currently the highest scorer in the A-League this Season with 18 goals and also has an impressive 4 assists.
