My Top 5 Most Important Players for Each Team in the A-League 2019/20 Season (Part 1- As of March 23rd)

A most important player can range from a player who is purely pivotal for the team from a structural perspective to someone capable of scoring a hat trick or keeping a clean sheet depending on their role for the team. The 1st part includes Adelaide United and the Brisbane Roar. It was a fascinating exercise to decide on who was the top 5 most important players for the 2 teams!

Adelaide United (Top 5 Most Important Players)

5th Most Important Player- Nikola Mileusnic- Mileusnic has 5 goals and 3 assists as it stands, but he needs to work on his general play.
4th Most Important Player- Michael Jakobsen- Jakobsen played every game in the heart of defence as Captain of the club.
3rd Most Important Player- Ben Halloran- Halloran has 7 goals and 3 assists as it stands. Halloran was a pivotal part of the Adelaide United team, who unfortunately didn’t play every game, due to being injured. Would have liked to have seen him as an impact player off the substitute bench.
2nd Most Important Player- George Blackwood- Blackwood played in the centre of midfield, but was more valuable from a structural perspective when playing in the forward line.
THE MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER- Riley McGree- McGree currently has 10 goals and 5 assists. McGree was the most damaging player for the team in the final third from a statistical perspective.

Brisbane Roar (Top 5 Most Important Players)

5th Most Important Player- Scott McDonald- McDonald scored goals at times where the Brisbane Roar needed it; the decision to recruit McDonald to the club can be seen as a successful decision.
4th Most Important Player- Corey Brown- Brown played a crucial role from the time that he was recruited by the Brisbane Roar. He made many a marauding run down the left flank.
3rd Most Important Player- Tom Aldred- Aldred was a prolific leader of the Brisbane Roar; he was a pivotal part of the Brisbane Roar line up.
2nd Most Important Player- Bradden Inman- Inman currently has an impressive total of 4 goals and 4 assists. Inman started 18 of the 22 games that the Brisbane Roar Played.
THE MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER- Jamie Young- Young is a player that turned the fortunes of the Season around for the Brisbane Roar, making many pivotal saves at important points of time in the game. The truth is that Young was probably the most influential goal keeper from any team in the A-League thus far (As it Stands).
