A-League 2019/20- (February 28th, 2020- March 1st, 2020)- My Preview
There are some interesting games to watch during this period of time starting with the Sydney derby, which should be an attacking and entertaining contest with both teams scoring 8 goals combined in Round 20! It may be highly unlikely that the likes of the Central Coast Mariners make the top 6 and feature in this A-League Season’s final series, but even they are still a mathematical chance to feature in the finals!
Team with Bye during this period of time: Wellington Phoenix
My Choice of a definite winner for this period of time: Newcastle Jets
Friday Night Game
Sydney FC v Western Sydney Wanderers
There will hopefully be plenty of goals in this game and with goals usually comes entertainment as goals change games. Sydney FC’s only loss was in Round 3 against the Western Sydney Wanderers so the home side may use that as motivation. It will be of interest how Sydney FC coach Steve Corica chooses to use his youngsters who were excellent off the bench in Round 20 and who replaces the suspended, Paulo Retre.
Sydney FC Game Changer: Andrew Redmayne
Western Sydney Wanderers Game Changer: Bruce Kamau
My Prediction: Sydney FC
Saturday Night Games
Newcastle Jets v Perth Glory
The Newcastle Jets have been performing outstandingly of late, therefore the wins will start to come, starting with their game against the Perth
Newcastle Jets Game Changer: Roy O’Donovan
Perth Glory Game Changer: Alex Grant
My Prediction: Newcastle Jets
Melbourne Victory v Adelaide United
This is a game where the Melbourne Victory need all 3 points in so they can keep their top 6 hopes alive, but its doubtful that will happen.
Melbourne Victory Game Changer: Migjen Basha
Adelaide United Game Changer: George Blackwood
My Prediction: Adelaide United
Sunday Afternoon Game
Western United v Central Coast Mariners
Both teams could use a win from this fixture, with the 2 teams involved desperate for a win so they can still be in the frame with regards to featuring in this A-League Season’s final series. They could use the 3 points for confidence, so it should be an intriguing contest, as a win for either team may ease the pressure on them slightly.
Western United FC Game Changer: Josh Risdon
Central Coast Mariners Game Changer: Gianni Stensness
My Prediction: Central Coast Mariners
Sunday Night Game
Melbourne City v Brisbane Roar
This is a difficult game to pick a result in as its 3rd against 6th, with both teams looking to 1st of all cement their place in the top 6 and then acquire a home final. Both teams would be comfortable with their respective Season’s so far, but it feels like this is a Season defining game for some reason.
Melbourne City Game Changer: Jamie Maclaren
Brisbane Roar Game Changer: Corey Brown
My Prediction: Melbourne City
