Facts and Figures

Goals Scored: There were 18 goals in six matches.
Clean Sheets: Two out of 12 teams that played kept a clean sheet.
Draws: There were three draws in six matches.
Possession: In all three matches where a team claimed three points, the winning team had less possession than their opponent.

Points of Interest

Andrew Redmayne (Central Coast Mariners) played his 300th A-League game, having represented clubs including the Central Coast Mariners, Brisbane Roar, Melbourne City (known as Melbourne Heart), Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC!

Franco Lino (Melbourne Victory) scored his first ever A-League goal.

Gabriel Popovic and Arion Sulemani (Perth Glory) scored for the first time this season, in a 3-1 win against Macarthur FC.

In two of the three games that were draws, there was a goal in second half stoppage time.

Highlights

18-year-old debutant Jesse Mantell (Central Coast Mariners) scored a goal against Brisbane Roar with a spectacular strike.

Brisbane Roar substitute Jordan Lauton scored a goal in second half stoppage time that made the score 2-2.

Lachlan Brook (Auckland FC) took a fantastic free kick, that made the score 2-2 against Melbourne Victory.

Daniel Wilmering (Newcastle Jets) scored an equaliser in second half stoppage time against Adelaide United.

Nicholas Pennington (Perth Glory) broke the deadlock against Macarthur FC. He immediately rushed to the bench to celebrate with Perth Glory’s massage therapist who recently lost her father.

Central Coast Mariners (2) v Brisbane Roar (2)
Facts and Figures: Sam Klein (Brisbane Roar) broke the deadlock with a fantastic header . Mariners substitute Nathanael Blair scored seven minutes later, with a clinical header from a Lucas Mauragis cross, that made the score 2-1 in favour of them, but unfortunately for the Mariners they couldn’t hold on for the win.

Game Two of Six

Auckland FC (2) v Melbourne Victory (2)
Facts and Figures: Sam Cosgrove (Auckland FC) scored an equaliser in first half stoppage time, with a great finish, that made it 1-1. Nishan Velupillay gave Melbourne Victory a 2-1 lead in the 53rd minute, with a clinical finish, in a game that Victory failed to win.

Game Three of Six

Newcastle Jets (1) v Adelaide United (1)
Facts and Figures: The two goals scored were in the second half, with Ryan White (Adelaide United) in the 73rd minute, but Adeliade United couldn’t hold on for the three points.

Game Four of Six

Western Sydney Wanderers (0) v Sydney FC (2)
Facts and Figures: Sydney FC had 49% possession and six shots on target, compared with Western Sydney Wanderers who had five.

Game Five of Six

Melbourne City (2) v Wellington Phoenix (0)
Facts and Figures: Melbourne City had 48.6% possession and five shots on target. Wellington Phoenix failed to register a shot on target from six shots.

Game Six of Six

Perth Glory (3) v Macarthur FC (1)
Facts and Figures: Perth Glory had 47.3% possession and eight shots on target, compared with Macarthur FC who had four.
