A-League Football Formations (3rd Favourite- 4-3-3)

Formation (4-3-3 A-League Season 2019/20 Players)

The formation would consist of two attacking wingbacks, two centre backs, three central midfielders and three strikers. There would three strikers with two attacking wingers.

Starting 11: Tom Glover, Ryan Strain, Richard Windbichler (Captain), Ziggy Gordon, Liberato Cacace, Josh Brillante, Steven Ugarkovic, Florin Berenguer, Alessandro Diamanti, Jamie Maclaren, Craig Noone

Substitutes: Daniel Lopar, Harrison Delbridge, Nathaniel Atkinson, Milan Duric, Max Burgess, Bernie Ibini-Isei

Goalkeeper

Tom Glover of Melbourne City played as a goalkeeper in a team that played with four defenders in A-League Season 2019/20. It’s just a matter of when Glover goes overseas to further his career as he is a goalkeeper that’s capable of making saves that keep his team in the game.

Defenders

Ryan Strain has the capability as being renowned as the best right back in the A-League if the Adelaide United right back can reach his potential.
Richard Windbichler is a centre back that leads by example and was extremely pivotal in Melbourne City nearly winning the championship.
Ziggy Gordon is capable of playing central defence in this system. Despite the Central Coast Mariners struggling Gordon always displayed great endeavour.
Liberato Cacace is a quality left back from Wellington Phoenix. It’s no fluke that Cacace will be playing in Europe as he is an outstanding prospect as a player.

Midfielders

Josh Brillante is a high quality midfielder who Captained Melbourne City in the A-League Season 2019/20 finals series.
Steven Ugarkovic of the Newcastle Jets was arguably their best player in A-League Season 2019/20. It was due to Ugarkovic proving he can score goals as well as play a defensive midfield role.
Florin Berenguer is a quality player from Melbourne City. It’s clear that Berenguer is world class when he plays at his optimum level.

Wingers/Strikers

Alessandro Diamanti is a player that’s got the quality array of passing to cause opposition defences problems. The Western United Captain also proved that he has end product with seven goals to go with his seven assists. He would play on the right wing in this system.
Jamie Maclaren of Melbourne City is a goal scorer capable of scoring on a regular basis. The striker showed that he is used to playing in the formation of 4-3-3.
Craig Noone from Melbourne City had a good Season on the right wing scoring five goals and providing seven assists.

Substitutes

Daniel Lopar is the second best goalkeeper in the A-League. The Western Sydney Wanderers sorely missed Lopar after the A-League restarted.
Harrison Delbridge can provide cover as a centre back or wing back. Melbourne City rely on Delbridge defensively as he is a quality player.
Nathaniel Atkinson of Melbourne City is a quality wing back.
Milan Duric of Central Coast Mariners is a great impact player.
Max Burgess of Western United would benefit from playing as a substitute as Burgess would be suited to that role.
Bernie Ibini-Isei of the Newcastle Jets is a goal scorer.
