Premier League Football Formations (4th Favourite- 4-4-2)

Formation (4-4-2 Premier League Season 2019/20 Players)

The formation would consist of two attacking wingbacks, two centre backs, a narrow central midfield consisting of four players and two strikers. There would be one striker that stays up forward and another that tracks back when the opposition has possession.

Starting 11: Kasper Schmeichel, Ricardo Pereira , Antonio Rudiger, Nathan Ake, Marcos Alonso, Jordan Henderson (Captain), Mateo Kovacic, Georginio Wijnaldum, David Silva, Marcus Rashford, Harry Kane

Substitutes: Jordan Pickford, Luke Shaw, James Maddison, Ross Barkley, Olivier Giroud, Anthony Martial

Goalkeeper

Kasper Schmeichel of Leicester City is a quality goalkeeper. Schmeichel would be suited to playing with four at the back as he has good reflexes; that’s what’s needed to play the system of 4-4-2. The reason being, is when the team has the ball the two wingbacks push up. Therefore, Jordan Henderson would go back to make a back three with Antonio Rudiger and Nathan Ake. Schmeichel may have made the seventh most saves, but he has the capability of being the best option as a goalkeeper in this system.

Defenders

Ricardo Pereira would be suited to playing at right back as he showed in the Premier League Season 2019/20 for Leicester City.
Antonio Rudiger is arguably one of the best centre backs in the world as he has showed for Chelsea.
Nathan Ake nearly kept Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Marcos Alonso is a player from Chelsea that’s confident playing left back. The great aspect about Alonso’s game is that he is that he scored four goals and provided four assists in Premier League Season 2019/20.

Midfielders

Jordan Henderson leads by example and would be an imperative part of this team as shown when Henderson played for Liverpool in Premier League Season 2019/20.
Mateo Kovacic is a quality player who is capable of playing centre midfield as Kovacic displayed for Chelsea in Premier League Season 2019/20.
Georginio Wijnaldum doesn’t get the recognition he deserves as Wijnaldum is an outstanding centre midfielder from Liverpool.
David Silva displayed that he is an extremely talented attacking central midfielder for Manchester City. Unfortunately, Silva will be sorely missed in Premier League Season 2020/21.

Strikers

Marcus Rashford fits this system as he is capable of playing in the midfield when the opposition has possession of the ball. There’s no doubt that Rashford should be known as one of the best players in the world. Manchester United will need him fit and firing in Premier League Season 2020/21.
Harry Kane is a player that at his best is unstoppable. It’s obvious that Tottenham Hotspur need him scoring goals to finish high on the Premier League table in 2020/21.

Substitutes

Jordan Pickford has been a pivotal part of Everton’s team as their goalkeeper in Premier League Season 2019/20.
Luke Shaw from Manchester United is an underrated left back; They kept eight clean sheets when Shaw was in the team in Premier League Season 2019/20.
Georginio Wijnaldum of Liverpool would fit the formation as an impact player.
James Maddison is an attacking centre midfielder from Leicester City.
Ross Barkley from Chelsea can play centre midfield or a more attacking role.
Olivier Giroud of Chelsea was pivotal late in the Premier League 2019/20 Season where Giroud managed to score goals.
