A-League Round 9 My Preview
Round 9 of the A-League should be a good one with every game interesting. Hopefully it’s a better round than Round 8 where all five games had a margin of two goals. The game of the round could be the opening game between first and third with Glory hosting the Sky Blues. Round 9 also features the Melbourne Derby. The Round is from tonight until Boxing Day (Next Wednesday Evening) so it should be a good one.
My Choice of a definite winner for this Round: Jets
Friday Night Game
Glory v Sky Blues
On paper this is the game of the Round with first taking on third. This is an extremely tough game to tip as I think the Sky Blues have the better team on paper, while the Glory have the better manager in Tony Popovic. I am leaning towards the Glory in this one, at home. I’m expecting a big game from Brandon Wilson.
Glory Game Changer: Brandon Wilson
Sky Blues Game Changer: Andrew Redmayne
My Prediction: Glory
Saturday Night Games
Phoenix v Roar
It’s sixth against ninth in this one. The Roar need to bounce back from a poor run of form, while the Phoenix are looking for their third win in a row. I’m expecting the Roar to be too strong in this one.
Phoenix Game Changer: Alex Rufer
Roar Game Changer: Adam Taggart
My Prediction: Roar
City v Victory
The Melbourne Derby should be a cracking game with second up against fourth. I think City should be slightly too good in this contest.
City Game Changer: Riley Mcgree
Victory Game Changer: Ola Toivonen
My Prediction: City
Sunday Night Game
Mariners v Jets
The F3 Derby features tenth against seventh. The Mariners will need to improve considerably to be competitive in this game. The Jets welcome back Roy O’Donovan who I expect to get on the score sheet and help the Jets notch up a comprehensive win.
Mariners Game Changer: Matt Simon
Jets Game Changer: Roy O’Donovan
My Prediction: Jets
Wednesday Night Game
Reds v Wanderers
Both teams need to bounce back from disappointing two goal losses in Round 8. Yet another tough game to pick a winner in, but I expect the Reds to get all three points in this game.
Reds Game Changer: Ryan Kitto
Wanderers Game Changer: Roly Bonevacia
My Prediction: Reds
