Premier League Team of the Week – Matchweek 6 (Premier League Season 2020-21)

Matchweek 6 Team of the Week (In a Nutshell)

For the first time in Premier League Season 2020/21 I didn’t predict any players who were selected by me in the Matchweek 6 Team of the Week!

Formation

4-3-3

Starting 11

Goalkeeper: Édouard Mendy (Chelsea)
Right Back: Jacob Murphy (Newcastle United)
Centre Back: Harry Maguire (Manchester United)
Centre Back: Victor Lindelöf (Manchester United)
Left Back: Luke Shaw (Manchester United)
Centre Midfield: Jordan Henderson (Liverpool)
Centre Midfield: Sander Berge (Sheffield United)
Centre Midfield: James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)
Striker: Patrick Bamford (Leeds United)
Striker: Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)
Striker: Danny Ings (Southampton)

Goalkeeper

Édouard Mendy has to be commended for the manner in which he played. To be specific, he pulled off an extraordinary save late in the game from a shot by Marcus Rashford from Manchester United. Chelsea have Mendy to thank for keeping a clean sheet and claiming a point; he made four saves.

Defenders

Jacob Murphy may have been playing in defence, but he snuck forward to help Newcastle United score an equaliser late on against Wolves.
Harry Maguire led by example. The Manchester United Captain helped Manchester United restrict Chelsea to just one shot on target!
Victor Lindelöf was arguably Manchester United’s best player. He displayed why they are a better team with him in it, helping to negate the influence of Chelsea’s attacking threats.
Luke Shaw showed that he belongs in the Manchester United starting line up at left back.

Midfielders

Jordan Henderson played all 90 minutes for Liverpool against Sheffield United. It was a narrow win for Liverpool in which Jordan Henderson put in a good shift for his team.
Sander Berge gave Sheffield United a shock 1-nil lead over Liverpool. He took a composed penalty and played a decent game.
James Ward-Prowse scored the opening goal of the game in the 27th minute for Southampton against top of the Premier League table, Everton.

Strikers

Patrick Bamford from Leeds United was possibly the best player in Matchweek 6. He scored all three goals in the game between Aston Villa and Leeds United.
Wilfried Zaha scored one goal and provided one assist in a narrow victory for Crystal Palace against Fulham.
Danny Ings provided the assists for both goals scored in the game between Southampton and Everton.

Matchweek 6 Team of the Week (Final Thoughts)

I endeavoured to select the Premier League Team of the Week in Matchweek 6 as accurately as possible. That’s related to the positions that I chose and the formation that most closely fitted the players that warranted selection in Matchweek 6 Team of the Week. As with other previous Team of the Weeks there were unlucky players that missed out, but that’s football.
