During his Youth career he played for Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid.
In his Senior career he represented: Real Madrid C, Real Madrid B, Real Madrid, Schalke 04, Al Sadd and New York Cosmos.
He played 102 games for Spain and scored 44 goals.
The decision to retire from football was made by him on March 5th, 2014.
