AFL Finals 2019, Week 2 My Preview
All 6 teams that are currently in the AFL finals can win the Premiership, as the Premiership race is extremely open. It’s tough to decipher which teams will win in the Week 2 of the final series with all 4 teams capable of obtaining the ultimate success. The Cats lost to the Magpies by less than 2 goals in the opening week of the finals series, while the Lions had more shots on goal than the Tigers, despite losing the game, therefore both teams will believe they can bounce back, but I don’t expect them to.
My choice of a definite winner for this Round: Giants
Friday Night Game
Cats v Eagles
The Eagles were favourites earlier this week, but with Willie Rioli suspended the game is a tough one to pick a winner in. The Cats have 2 good players coming back into their team that are quality players in Rhys Stanley and Cameron Guthrie. The loss of Mitch Duncan through injury will have an impact on the Cats, in my opinion, though.
Key matchup: Rhys Stanley v Nic Naitanui
Cats Changer: Sam Menegola
Eagles Game Changer: Jake Waterman
My Prediction: Eagles
Saturday Night Game
Lions v Giants
The Lions didn’t play badly, despite losing fairly comprehensively to the Tigers; the Lions led most stats and controlled the balance of play for the first quarter and a bit. The Giants benefited from the week off beating the in form Bulldogs; they played with a high intensity for all 4 quarters of the game. It’s tough to see the Giants losing this game, if they can replicate their performance from the 1st week of the finals.
Key matchup: Stefan Martin v Shane Mumford
Lions Game Changer: Lachie Neale
Giants Game Changer: Tim Taranto
My Prediction: Giants
