Round Nineteen Review (Hyundai A-League)

Round eighteen of the A-League was a fascinating one. There was at least two goals scored in all of the games making the football being played stimulating for the neutral spectator.

Sky Blues v Phoenix Review

Brosque scored a goal early on. That was followed shortly after by a clinical finish by Mierjewski to make it two-nil. In the Second Half Ninkovic pounced on a cheap turn over from Mullen to score the third. Some brilliant work from substitutes Calver and Carney made it four-nil.

Jets v Victory Review

The game was a tough and tight contest early. O’Donovan missed a golden chance. Barbarouses had a shot well saved by Duncan. Following that the Jets broke the dead lock through a sublime free kick from Petratos that was headered into the net by Boogaard. Berisha had a shot brilliantly saved by Duncan. In the Second Half Duncan made a couple of superb saves. Then the Jets put the game beyond doubt with Nabbout providing an assist for substitute Mcgree. The game finished at two-nil to the Jets.

Reds v Glory Review

Neville provided the assist for Keogh early in the game. Shortly after the Reds hit back through a cross from strain that was headered into his own net by Djubic, thanks to some pressure from Blackwood. Blackwood had two shots on goal well saved. Issais provided an assist for the Reds second goal with Mileusnic finishing with a clinical goal. In the Second Half there were a few chances for either side, with no one converting and the game finishing at two-one to the Reds.

Mariners v Wanderers Review

Riera and Bridge both had their opportunities saved by Kennedy early on in the game. A sublime corner from Carrusca was clinically finished off by Sotirio. Shortly after Llorente played a cross to Riera, who provided a quality finish. There was no end product from the Mariners until substitute Skapetis finished off a clever pass from Melling. The game finished at two-one to the Wanderers.

Roar v City Review

Bautheac played an intelligent cross to Maccarone who did well to finish it off. Shortly after Arzani played a sublime pass to Budzinski who scored the equalizer. There was no more end product from either side in the First Half.  In the Second Half Budzinski did brilliantly to keep the ball alive and cross the ball to Mauk who did well to finish with a goal. The Roar were awarded a penalty kick that Maccarone butchered.
