Week Seven Review (KFC BBL)
Week Seven of the BBL was thoroughly entertaining with many of big hits and enthralling cricket played for the neutral spectator.
Scorchers v Hurricanes Review
The Scorchers won the toss and elected to field first. Wade was in sublime form for the Hurricanes with the bat, clearly sending a message that he is still capable of playing some good cricket at the highest level. He wasn’t alone, with Mcdermott chipping with a quick fire fifty as well. Christian put the icing on the cake with thirty-seven runs in quick time. None of the Scorchers bowlers had a good economy rate. In reply Christian and Rogers took seven wickets between them. Marsh and Bresnan added some respectability to the scoreboard with thirty and forty-three runs respectably. Overall it was a comprehensive victory to the Hurricanes by seventy-one runs.
Strikers v Renegades Review
The Strikers won the toss and elected to bat first. Weatherald and Head stole the show with a one hundred and four run partnership for the second wicket. Mennie was the pick of the bowlers for the Renegades going at less than six runs per over. The Strikers posted a more than useful one hundred and seventy eight runs. When it was the Strikers turn to bowl, Head was the pick of the bowlers , with an economy rate of less than seven runs per over. The Renegades were always in with a chance, losing by a solitary run in a heart breaking finish for them.
Strikers v Hurricanes Review
Weatherald stole the show again. This time around he managed to score a century and guide the Strikers to an almost unassailable total of two hundred and two runs. The Strikers won the game by twenty-five runs with Siddle the pick of the bowlers taking three wickets. Credit has to go to Gillespie who coached the team to victory.
