Eagles v Crows Review

Quarter 1

The endeavour was clearly evident from both teams in the 1st couple of minutes. A fierce contest was given by both teams. Betts gave the Crows the ascendency early on with a clever mark and an easy finish. Matt Crouch was a ball magnet early where he collected a few possessions. Vardy took a pivotal mark opposed to Sam Jacobs and then nailed the Eagles 1st goal. Redden kicked the Eagles 2nd goal through an opportunistic 2nd goal. It appeared that the two injured Crows leaders in Talia and Walker impacted them at both ends of the ground, with the Crows 3 goals in arrears of the potentially finals bound Eagles.

Quarter 2

Mitch Mcgovern kicked what could prove to be a pivotal goal in the context of the game. What followed was a shocking finish by Eddie Betts. There was only 1 goal in the 1st half of the 2nd quarter. The contest appeared to be heading toward a low scoring game. Cripps kicked his 2nd goal thanks to a key courtesy due to the good work of Jack Redden. The endeavour was fantastic from the Eagles epitomised by the effort displayed by Duggan and Hutchings. Matt Crouch showed composure when he assisted Wayne Millera. Once again Matt Crouch was instrumental; this time he showed class when he set up a crucial goal for Brodie Smith, that put the Crows within 2 points of the Eagles. Gaff gave the Eagles a slight edge over the Crows. Hutchings then got reward for effort with what could have proved to be an integral goal. The Eagles went into half time with the momentum.

Quarter 3

Redden set up Hutchings to keep the Eagles September dream alive. Matt Crouch was then on the end of some sublime work from Brad Crouch, which kept the Crows in touch on the scoreboard. Despite the Crows ladder position being assured, it was clear that they wanted to win. Unfortunately for the Crows, the Eagles were extremely resilient. Goals to Kennedy, Petrie and Lecras kicked 3 consecutive goals for the Eagles, which put the Eagles lead out to a substantial 7 goals.

Quarter 4

Mitch Mcgovern kicked a crucial goal in what was to be the Eagles last game at Domain Stadium. Kennedy struggled for accuracy in a quarter where he contributed 3 behinds to the Eagles tally! Jetta kicked a magical goal to all but seal the game for the Eagles. Darling kicked what was the sealing goal from the perspective of the Eagles top 8 ambitions!
