AFL Sunday Round 23 Preview

Bombers v Dockers My Preview

Jobe Watson and Travis Colyer will prove to add some experience. James Kelly and Brendon Goddard will have to provide some efficient ball use through the middle of the ground. Mcgrath and Baguley add some composure in the back half of the ground. The small forward line of Begley, Colyer and Mcdonald-Tipungwuti should bring some crumbing options for the tall timber of the bombers forward line. Mcgrath playing a role in the back line, while Zach Merrett providing an option as a utility is symptomatic of the Bombers midfield depth; they would probably play a role in the midfield in any other team in the competition. The likes of Myers and Watson also add options in the midfield as they are both genuine midfielders. The likes of Stewart and Hooker will be needed to take the pressure off young exuberant full forward in Joe Daniher.

The game should be a forgone conclusion based on the Dockers past two deplorable performances. List management decisions are about to be made at the conclusion of the home and away season. Griffin, Kersten and Neale should add some class and polish to the 22 players taking the field on Sunday. Griffin in particular will look to prove his worth to the footy club, with the task of rucking against Bellchambers. With Hurley not playing, Kersten should look to hit the scoreboard, as Hurley has proved to be a revelation in the back line this season. Fyfe has returned to form and is  long term asset to the club after agreeing to sign a six year contract with the club. A key matchup could prove to be Joel Hamling against Joe Daniher. There is an opportunity for Harley Bennell and Matt Taberner to prove they warrant a spot in the best 22 with a chance to be among the goals.

Bombers Game Changer: Dyson Heppell

Dockers Game Changer: Nat Fyfe

My prediction: Bombers

Eagles v Crows My Preview

I can’t understand why the Eagles match committee wouldn’t select Wellingham, Hill and Masten. They all provide much needed run that the Eagles need. Having Sam Mitchell and Matt Priddis in the midfield should provide a good result with regards to the contested possession and clearances stats. However, Domain is a big ground, which could prove to be an obstacle for the Eagles. Continue reading “AFL Sunday Round 23 Preview”
