My Team of Surprise Packets in the AFL Round Fourteen
This team consists of players that achieved more than I thought they would in Round Fourteen of the AFL.
B: Jarrod Harbrow (Suns), Cale Hooker (Bombers), Kade Simpson (Blues)
HB: Jarman Impey (Hawks), Phil Davis (Giants), Lachie Whitfield (Giants)
C: Jarryd Lyons (Suns), Jack Viney (Demons), Trent Dumont (Kangaroos)
HF: Hugh Mccluggage (Lions), Josh Walker (Lions), Jed Anderson (Kangaroos)
FF: Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti (Bombers), Jake Stringer (Bombers), Mitch Wallis (Bulldogs)
Foll: Tom Bellchambers (Bombers), Sam Powell-Pepper (Power), Nathan Jones (Demons)
Int: Jack Redden (Eagles), Touk Miller (Suns), Ryan Lester (Lions), James Harmes (Demons)
Backs: Jarrod Harbrow accumulated over twenty possessions in a disappointing display from the Suns. Cale Hooker played a solid game. Kade Simpson continues to improve and perform well for the Blues. Jarman Impey got quite a bit of the ball despite starting on a half back flank. Phil Davis proved his worth to the Giants side, while Lachie Whitfield got over twenty possessions despite not starting in the middle of the ground.
Midfielders: Jarryd Lyons is a recruit who has gone under the radar and is underrated, because the Suns have been largely uncompetitive. Jack Viney led from the front for the Demons in the middle of the ground. Trent Dumont played one of his best games in his career starting on the wing.
Forwards: Hugh Mccluggage was a good performer for the Lions as was Josh Walker, who may be a long term solution to the Lions forward structure. Jed Anderson performed admirably for the Kangaroos. Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti had his best game this season from a statistical perspective with sixteen disposals. Jake Stringer managed to kick three goals in a good contribution to help the Bombers collect four points on the road. Mitch Wallis proved that he should be a permanent part of the Bulldogs best twenty-two.
Followers: Tom Bellchambers was a good performer against an Eagles side with two of the best ruckmen in the competition. Sam Powell-Pepper made a lot of tackles in an important performance for the Power from a defensive point of view. Nathan Jones collected twenty-eight disposals, producing an outstanding performance.
Interchange: Jack Redden accumulated twenty-six possessions for the Eagles. Touk Miller was one of the best players in an uncompetitive Suns team. Ryan Lester showed that he deserves to be a permanent fixture for the Lions. James Harmes had a solid game demonstrating why he has played every game for the Demons this season.
