Pre Match Analysis– Manchester United came into the match with Brighton Hove and Albion clinging onto second place. Their form has been inconsistent. It has been difficult to get a form line on the Red Devils. Their performances have been inconsistent and erratic, but incredibly they still sit in second place on the Premier League ladder putting them in a position to acquire the coveted automatic European Champions League spot. 

First Half Analysis– Lukaku missed a golden opportunity early. Brighton looked threatening on a number of occasions in the first half. Brighton survived a dangerous incursion forward by Manchester United, they went into the break with the game at nil all. The scores were level thanks to an inspirational double save by Brighton’s Australian goal keeper Ryan.

Half Time Analysis– Manchester United went into half time against Brighton and Hove Albion with the game in the balance. They failed to break the deadlock. The longer a game goes without a goal the more dangerous it is that the opposition will sneak a goal in on the counter attack.

Second Half Analysis– The game looked in the balance for the first twenty minutes of play in the second half. That changed when a shot by Young was cruelly deflected into the net. Manchester United took the lead in the sixty-sixth minute with the goal recorded as an own goal against Dunk from Brighton. Ibrahimovic was lively without scoring a goal. Brighton created a few chances of their own without the end product in the final third and the finishing touch in the eighteen yard box.

Full Time Analysis– Manchester United survived a tough contest, they had to rely on an goal to pick up the three points on offer. Brightons performance could warrant at least a draw. Apart from the goal and the double save by Ryan they didn’t threaten to score with many wayward efforts. While, Brighton had some dangerous crosses into the area without the finished product. Manchester United will have to improve their performances if they are to claim one of the automatic European Champions League spots on offer.
