Preview- Feb 16-17, 2018 (Hyundai A-League)
This week end promises to be an entertaining and attacking weekend of football. Last week end there was at least three goals scored in every game of football being played. Hopefully the high scoring games played last weekend is a positive trend. Two of the three games involve top six hopefuls and there is also the game dubbed the ‘distance derby’ that could have a bearing on the wooden spoon.
Wanderers v Jets Preview
It’s fifth against seventh in this clash. Wanderers welcome back playmaker Cejudo. The Wanderers need to get something out of this game in order to working towards cementing their spot in the top six. The Jets get back Georgievski from injury. It promises to be an open, entertaining game of football with the Jets looking to ensure they have a top two finish. The Wanderers are coming off a four-nil victory, all be it against bottom of the table Phoenix. Hopefully this game lives up to its potential. The Jets should be to strong in this one.
Wanderers Game Changer: Brendan Hamill
Jets Game Changer: Jack Duncan
My Prediction: Jets
Phoenix v Glory Preview
It’s last against eighth in this one. The Phoenix is at rock bottom and couldn’t go any lower, while the Glory is battling to get results themselves. Some tough decisions have been made at the selection table for the Phoenix with Italiano and Parkhouse being dropped and they lose Mullen through injury. This game could have a bearing on who gets the wooden spoon. This game should have goals in it with both teams needing the three points.
Phoenix Game Changers: Matthew Ridenton
Glory Game Changer: Andy Keogh
My Prediction: Phoenix
Reds v Mariners Preview
It’s fourth against ninth in this game. The Reds would pencil this one in as a definite three points based on the ladder positions. The Mariners will be without key defender Antony Golec, who has been solid at the back. If the table is anything to go by then the Mariners should lose this game as they are languishing near the bottom of the table. The Reds will be looking to make sure they are in the top six. Both teams could use the three points on offer.
Reds Game Changer: Ryan Strain
Mariners Game Changer: Josh Rose
My Prediction: Reds
