My Socceroos line up vs Syria
Goalkeeper: Matt Ryan- Has established himself as the Socceroos number one goalie. Most importantly he is playing regular football in one of the toughest competitions in the world, the English Premier League.
Left Centre Back: Matthew Jurman- Is playing in the K-League. Capable of playing in a back three. Will fit into the system that Postecoglou plays. Has played under Postecoglou at club level for the Brisbane Roar.
Centre Back: Trent Sainsbury- Has been a part of the Socceroos back three since Ange changed the system. Capable of adapting to the system employed by Postecoglou.
Right Centre Back: Milos Degenek. Another player who has been a part of the back three that Postecoglou has put in place.
Defensive Midfield Left: Aaron Mooy- Has been playing regularly in the Premier League. A proven playmaker. Needs players around him to do the defensive work.
Defensive Midfield Right: Mark Milligan (Captain)- The best utility in the country. Capable of playing in a back three if required; extremely adaptable. Also, a proven leader.
Left Centre Midfield- Jackson Irvine- Capable of playing a role in the centre of the park.
Centre Midfield- Mustafa Amini- Playing regular football in the Danish League. Could be a surprise selection if picked by the manager.
Right Centre Midfield: James Troisi- Showed his class with a sublime finish against Chile.
Right Sided Striker: Mathew Leckie- Has been in great form in the top league in Germany. Needs more opportunity in the final third; capable of scoring goals if given the chance.
Left Sided Striker: Tomi Juric- Another player in the Socceroos team who is playing in a top league; he plays his trade in Switzerland.
Bench: Nikita Rukavytsya- Will proved much needed speed for the Socceroos.
Bench: Massimo Luongo- Capable of playing a role off the bench in the middle of the park, when fatigue will become a factor.
Bench: Tim Cahill- Always makes something happen. Can play a role off the bench.
