FPL GW4 Strategy
The decision made not to play a Free Hit was a tough one, but ultimately probably the right one as Pointers scored 64 points in GW4, that was slightly lower than the average points scored in GW4. There’s no disputing it was tough not to make transfers and select Jørgen Strand Larsen as Captain, as he hadn’t scored a goal or provided an assist prior to GW4.
FPL GW4 Formation
The formation of 4-3-3 seemed the right formation for GW4, even though it was a tough decision, but I backed in the Brighton and Hove Albion two defenders playing against Coventry City and the goalkeeper and the two defenders for Hull City, because they hadn’t let in a goal prior to GW4, but unfortunately, they conceded two goals against Chelsea, in GW4. Due to choosing the formation and players chosen it was difficult to leave the four players on the bench and unfortunately Morgan Rogers scored a goal, but that’s the risk I took in GW4.
FPL GW4 Goalkeeper
Konstantinos Tzolakis (Hull City, £4.6m) failed to keep a clean sheet for the first time this Premier League season. The first goal that Chelsea scored, a goalkeeper of his calibre should’ve done better with, as he was beaten at the near post from a shot by Morgan Rogers. Despite that, he did manage to make five saves.
FPL GW4 Defenders
Ryan Giles (Hull City, £4.0m) has been reliable and provided an assist for the equalising goal against Chelsea.
John Egan (Hull City, £4.1m) scored 2 points, due to finishing the game with more than 10 defensive contributions.
Maxim De Cuyper (Brighton, £4.8m) started for Pointers, because Coventry City hadn’t scored a goal this season and was vindicated as he got his third assist of the season.
Lewis Dunk (Brighton, £4.5m) had a great game, capped off with a great goal from distance, with the fourth goal scored by Brighton.
FPL GW4 Midfielders
Rayan Cherki (Manchester City, £7.8m) struggled to get into the game and was substituted off at half-time in the Manchester derby.
Antoine Semenyo (Manchester City, £8.4m) put in a good shift in the Manchester derby, but failed to deliver from a fantasy perspective. Despite that, he was unfortunate not to get an assist a shot from Enzo Fernández that was saved by Sean Lemmens hit the post.
Matheus Cunha (Manchester United, £7.9m) wasn’t utilised properly and once again found it difficult to get into the game.
FPL GW4 Forwards
Jørgen Strand Larsen (Crystal Palace, £6.0m- C) started the game and the risk taken to Captain him by Pointers proved to be a decent one as he scored a goal.
Erling Haaland (Manchester City, £15.5m) scored the only goal of the game in the Manchester derby.
Alexander Isak (Liverpool, £9.0m- V) failed to score and get into the game in a goalless draw against Fulham.
FPL GW4 Substitutes
Goalkeeper: Caoimhín Kelleher (Brentford, £5.0m) made 8 saves, even though he conceded two goals against AFC Bournemouth.
Midfielder: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Everton, £6.5m) wasn’t selected in the starting 11 for Pointers, because it was a gut feel that he wouldn’t score high in GW4.
Morgan Rogers (Chelsea, £7.7m) scored early in the game against Hull City, therefore it proved to be the wrong decision not to start him for Pointers.
Defender: Kristoffer Ajer (Brentford, £4.5m) played 90 minutes in a 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth.
