Premier League Pecking Order- Matchweek 6 (Premier League Season 2022/23- In a Nutshell)

The pecking order is based on the performance of the Premier League teams during the given Matchweek; on this occasion, it’s Matchweek 6. The Premier League Pecking Order starts with the 20th team (worst performed team) in the Pecking Order and finishes with the 1st team (best performed team) in the Pecking Order.

20- Leicester City

Leicester City put in a poor display against Brighton and Hove Albion, despite scoring in the 1st minute. Leicester City lost the game 5-2, but it could’ve been a lot worse, they appeared to be extremely disjointed.

19- Southampton

Southampton would be disappointed with only having one shot on target in their 1-nil loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Southampton didn’t offer much going forward.

18- Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest should be distraught, as they threw away a 2-nil lead to lose 3-2 to AFC Bournemouth.

17- Leeds United

Leeds United were obliterated 5-2 by Brentford, but Leeds United did manage to control possession with 68.9% and have six shots on target.

16- Chelsea

Chelsea was fortunate to defeat West Ham United 2-1. There’s no disputing they didn’t play well and were lucky that there was a goal by West Ham United overturned.

15- Everton

Everton played a game that ended in a scoreless draw against Liverpool. Both teams hit the post, but Liverpool were the better team. Everton displayed plenty of character to claim a draw.

14- Arsenal

Arsenal did well to score an equaliser in the 60th minute, but lost to Manchester United 3-1. There’s no doubt Arsenal didn’t perform to level they have in the opening five matches. The three goals that they conceded were due to their poor defence.

13- Aston Villa

Aston Villa did well to claim a point against Manchester City with the game ending 1-all. There’s no doubt Aston Villa showed grit and determination to claim a point.

12- Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers should have a good morale as they claimed their first win of the Premier League Season with a 1-nil win over Southampton.

11- Newcastle United

Newcastle United played in an entertaining nil-all draw with Crystal Palace. Newcastle United finished the game with more possession and six shots on target. They did have a goal disallowed controversially, but at the same time were lucky to claim a point due to their goalkeeper, Nick Pope playing an outstanding game.

10- Fulham

Fulham performed admirably as they nearly snatched a point against a Tottenham Hotspur team in good form, as Fulham suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat, because they couldn’t quite get a second goal in the end.

9- West Ham United

West Ham United put in a solid display and were unlucky to come away from their game against Chelsea empty handed. David Moyes, the West Ham United coach should be pleased with their endeavour despite not scoring an equaliser when the score was 2-1 in favour of Chelsea. A goal to West Ham United was initially given, but then overturned.

8- Manchester City

Manchester City should be disappointed with not claiming all three points, as they could’ve moved to the top of the Premier League had they won. Despite controlling the balance of play the final score against Aston Villa was 1-all.

7- AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth showed that they may avoid relegation as they came back from a two goal deficit to win 3-2 against Nottingham Forest.

6- Liverpool

Liverpool played some good football, despite not scoring a goal and only claiming a point. They had eight shots on target and hit the post a few times. The game against Everton ended nil-nil.

5- Manchester United

Manchester United Played some good football and became the first team to beat an Arsenal team that had yet to drop a point in their opening five matches of the Season. Manchester United claimed an important 3-1 win.

4- Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace had nine shots on target, but failed to score due to Newcastle United goalkeeper, Nick Pope playing an outstanding game.

3- Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur allowed Fulham back into the game late on as they made the deficit one goal late in the game, but Tottenham Hotspur held on for a 2-1 win. Despite winning narrowly, they played an attacking brand of football with ten shots on target from 23 shots.

2- Brentford

Brentford won a game 5-2, against Leeds United, despite only having 31.1% possession and eight shots on target. They were clinical in the final third and had a deserved win.

1- Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton and Hove Albion may have conceded a goal in the opening minute of the game, but they were outstanding. They finished the game with 11 shots on target from 23 shots. They defeated Leicester City 5-2, but the margin could’ve been more than three goals.

Premier League Pecking Order- Matchweek 6 (Premier League Season 2022/23- Final Thoughts)

There were plenty of goals, despite there being two scoreless draws. Those two draws were entertaining as they had a combined total of 79 shots! That’s indicative of Matchweek 6; it was a difficult Matchweek to select the Pecking Order, but at the same time it was enjoyable and challenge with some tough decisions to be made. Two games ended in 5-2 and Arsenal had their first loss of the Season, which means Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are the two undefeated teams after Matchweek 6.
