AFL Round 2- What to Expect

AFL Round 2- My Preview

Round 2 should be intriguing as it’s the unknown. There will be shorter quarters once again, which I think is a good thing, but will probably only be in place for Season 2020. It will be interesting to see who copes with the long period of time between Round 1 and Round 2. Check out what could occur!

My choice of a definite winner for this Round: St Kilda v Western Bulldogs (Western Bulldogs to win)

Toughest game to pick a winner in: Greater Western Sydney v North Melbourne (North Melbourne to win)

Thursday Night Game

Collingwood v Richmond
This is one of the toughest games of the Round to pick a winner in on paper.
Key matchup: Scott Pendlebury v Dion Prestia
Collingwood Game Changer: Chris Mayne
Richmond Game Changer: Dion Prestia
My Prediction: Collingwood

Friday Night Game

Geelong v Hawthorn
These 2 teams have built up a good rivalry, expect that to continue. Hawthorn should be far too good for Geelong in this game though.
Key matchup: Cameron Guthrie v Tom Mitchell
Geelong Game Changer: Mitch Duncan
Hawthorn Game Changer: Jon Ceglar
My Prediction: Hawthorn

Saturday Afternoon Games

Brisbane v Fremantle
If Round 1 is any indication of how these 2 teams play in Round 2 then it’s fairly difficult to pick a winner in.
Key matchup: Harris Andrews v Matt Taberner
Brisbane Game Changer: Eric Hipwood
Fremantle Game Changer: Matt Taberner
My Prediction: Fremantle

Carlton v Melbourne
Another upset looks likely this Round with Carlton looking the better team based on their Round 1 display.
Key matchup: Patrick Cripps v Clayton Oliver
Carlton Game Changer: Sam Petrevski-Seton
Melbourne Game Changer: Clayton Oliver
My Prediction: Carlton

Saturday Night Games

Gold Coast v West Coast
It’s a pivotal game for both teams in the context of the Season. Gold Coast should be hungry to improve on their Round 1 performance.
Key matchup: Sam Collins v Jack Darling
Gold Coast Game Changer: Sam Collins
West Coast Game Changer: Andrew Gaff
My Prediction: Gold Coast

Port Adelaide v Adelaide
The Showdown is a good spectacle and Round 2 of Season 2020 should be no different.
Key matchup:  Travis Boak v Rory Sloane
Port Adelaide Game Changer: Tom Rockliff
Adelaide Game Changer: Rory Laird
My Prediction: Adelaide

Sunday Afternoon Games

Greater Western Sydney v North Melbourne
This should be quite an interesting game. Both teams won their opening game of the Season so they will both take some confidence into Round 2.
Key matchup: Stephen Coniglio v Ben Cunnington
Greater Western Sydney Game Changer: Lachie Whitfield
North Melbourne Game Changer: Ben Cunnington
My Prediction: North Melbourne

Sydney Swans v Essendon
This should be a good, close, tough game of footy.
Key matchup: Josh Kennedy v Zach Merrett
Sydney Game Changer: Tom Papley
Essendon Game Changer: Jacob Townsend
My Prediction: Essendon

Sunday Night Game

St Kilda v Western Bulldogs
Both these teams will be endeavouring to bounce back from losing in Round 1. St Kilda lost a game that they were in control of at half time to North Melbourne in Round 1. The Western Bulldogs on the other hand were comprehensively beaten by Collingwood. The Western Bulldogs will be motivated and want to redeem themselves.
Key matchup: Seb Ross v Jackson Macrae
St Kilda Game Changer: Seb Ross
Western Bulldogs Game Changer: Jackson Macrae
My Prediction: Western Bulldogs
