AFL Round 21 My Preview
Round 21 should be an intriguing Round of footy with 11 teams still with an opportunity to make the finals, realistically, although 14 still a mathematical chance of featuring in September.
My choice of a definite winner for this Round: Hawks
Friday Night Game
Giants v Hawks
The Giants need to continue the momentum, winning their last three games, while the Hawks will be looking to bounce back from a loss they had to the Kangaroos.
Key matchup: Tim Taranto v James Worpel
Giants Game Changer: Lachie Whitfield
Hawks Game Changer: James Worpel
My Prediction: Hawks
Saturday Afternoon Games
Demons v Magpies
The Demons need a win to give them a bit of confidence, while the Magpies will want to keep their slim hopes of a top 4 finish alive.
Key matchup: Max Gawn v Brodie Grundy
Demons Game Changer: Michael Hibberd
Magpies Game Changer: Jack Crisp
My Prediction: Demons
Power v Swans
It may be 9th against 15th, but this should still be an entertaining contest as there could be an upset.
Key matchup: Charlie Dixon v Aliir Aliir
Power Game Changer: Karl Amon
Swans Game Changer: Hayden Mclean
My Prediction: Swans
Lions v Suns
This game could be a tough game for the Lions; it’s a danger game for them with the Suns having nothing to lose.
Key matchup: Stefan Martin v Jarrod Witts
Lions Game Changer: Lachie Neale
Suns Game Changer: Jarrod Witts
My Prediction: Suns
Saturday Night Games
Bombers v Bulldogs
The Bombers would disappointed with their performance last week, while the Bulldogs fought back to make the margin a respectable 3 goals, so both teams will be looking to bounce back and win in Round 21.
Key matchup: Dyson Heppell v Jack Macrae
Bombers Game Changer: Zach Merrett
Bulldogs Game Changer: Josh Dunkley
My Prediction: Bulldogs
Cats v Kangaroos
The Cats will be looking to improve on their Round 20 display against the Dockers, while the Kangaroos will be looking to build on the momentum, following a good win over the Hawks.
Key matchup: Zac Smith v Todd Goldstein
Cats Game Changer: Brandan Parfitt
Kangaroos Game Changer: Todd Goldstein
My Prediction: Kangaroos
Sunday Afternoon Games
Saints v Dockers
The Saints may be highly unlikely to feature in September, but they have still won 2 of their last 3 games under interim coach; Brett Ratten, while the Dockers will be looking to build on their win over the Cats, in Round 20.
Key matchup: Sebastian Ross v Nat Fyfe
Saints Game Changer: Josh Bruce
Dockers Game Changer: Michael Walters
My Prediction: Saints
Eagles v Crows
Despite the fact that it’s 2nd against 8th, this should be a good game of footy, as the 8th placed Crows have 1 of the best midfields in the competition.
Key matchup: Tom Hickey v Sam Jacobs
Eagles Game Changer: Jamie Cripps
Crows Game Changer: Matt Crouch
My Prediction: Crows
Tigers v Blues
The Tigers will be looking to get one step closer to a top 4 finish, while the Blues will be looking to build some momentum to give them some belief going into the preseason for 2020.
Key matchup: Dion Prestia v Patrick Cripps
Tigers Game Changer: Kane Lambert
Blues Game Changer: Nic Newman
My Prediction: Blues
