We have just one week to go in a Fascinating Season of AFL footy and its Down to Two

AFL Preliminary Finals My Review

It may have not been the best of weekends as far as closeness of results are concerned, but there was an upset on Friday night where the favourites in the Tigers were beaten by the Magpies. The Premiership race is now down to two with the Magpies and the Eagles cruising to relatively easy victories. I expected the Demons to put up more than a fight than they did against the Eagles.

Friday Night Game

Tigers v Magpies

The Tigers were heavy favourites to win this one. They came out of the blocks slowly, with the Magpies leading five goals to one goal at quarter time. Jordan De Goey was the game changer for them in the first quarter kicking a couple of pivotal goals. The game went from bad to worse for the Tigers in the second term with the Magpies leading ten goals to two at the long break. The third quarter saw the Tigers work their way back into the contest a bit, but not enough to make the Magpies too worried. Jack Riewoldt was a shinning light for the Tigers up forward with five goals, but the Magpies were far too good at the end of the evening.
Tigers Game Changer: Jack Riewoldt
Magpies Game Changers: Steele Sidebottom, Mason Cox, Jordan De Goey, Brodie Grundy

 Saturday Night Game

Eagles v Demons

This was a surprisingly one sided shellacking from start to finish. The game was well and truly over at half time, with the Demons failing to register a goal for the entirety of the first half. In the third quarter the Demons managed to make the scoreboard more respectable with five goals, but the game was well and truly over in the first half. Jack Redden and Josh Kennedy were outstanding for the Eagles.
Eagles Game Changers: Jack Redden, Josh Kennedy
Demons Game Changer: Angus Brayshaw, Clayton Oliver
