Backs: Blake Hardwick probably had his best game for the season against the Blues last Sunday. One of the Dockers most important players for the second week in a row was Joel Hamling. A pivotal cog for the Eagles is Brad Sheppard as he proved for the second week in a row. Rory Laird gathered a lot of the ball once again. The best player in last weekend was Steven May, who kept Lance Franklin goalless and was possibly the reason why the Suns won against the Swans last Saturday. A player to follow up a good performance in round 17 with an impressive output in round 18 was Alex Witherden.
Midfielders: Clayton Oliver, Tom Mitchell and Patrick Cripps displayed why they could well be the best players in their respective teams.
Forwards: Jordan De Goey managed to kick four goals and play a quality game against the Kangaroos last Saturday. One of the key ingredients in the Crows structure is Tom Lynch, which he showed in round 18. What a fantastic defensive effort was put in by Devon Smith of the Bombers with ten tackles against the Dockers on Saturday. One of the main players who was responsible for the Suns causing the biggest upset of the season was Aaron Young who managed to nail four goals. Tom Hawkins was outstanding last Saturday night with seven goals. In round 17 Paul Puopolo played his best game of the season in round 18.
Followers: One of the most underrated players in the competition has to be Jarrod Witts, especially based on his performance in round 18. Taylor Adams played a quality game in round 18 against the Kangaroos. Possibly the best player in the AFL has to be Dustin Martin.
Interchange: For the second week in a row Dion Prestia was one of the best players on the field. Liam Duggan is a player who is one of the most important parts of the Eagles defence. Sam Menegola and Gary Ablett led the Cats to victory.
