West Bromwich Albion v Manchester United Review
Pre Match Analysis– Manchester United came into the match with West Bromwich Albion sitting second on the Premier League ladder for the current Season. In spite of not playing their best football they have managed to get the three points on offer in twelve of the seventeen games they have played in. Time would tell whether their patchy form performance wise is merely an aberration or a worrying trend.
First Half Analysis– It was a tough and tight contest for the first twenty minutes or so with neither team gaining the ascendency. That changed in the twenty-seventh minute when Rashford played a sublime cross that was headered into the back of the net by Lukaku who broke the dead lock. In the thirty fifth minute Manchester United made it two nil through Lingard scoring a goal through a deflection from a West Brom player, Mata was credited with the assist.
Half Time Analysis– Manchester United went into the Half Time break with a two nil lead. They say a two goal margin is a dangerous score line as it’s easy to be complacent and allow the opposition back into the contest. Despite that it was unlikely that Manchester United would take the foot off the accelerator as they had the momentum in the contest.
Second Half Analysis– Rashford missed an opportunity early on that would have given Manchester United an unassailable lead. Substitute Barry made the game interesting with a clinical finish in the seventy-seventh minute, former Manchester United defender Evans was credited with an assist. From there on West Brom controlled the balance of play without scoring an equalizing goal.
Full Time Analysis– The three points that Manchester United claimed means that they are still second on the Premier League ladder. In spite of not playing their best football they managed to get the win. Manchester United managed to acquire nearly fifty-seven percent of possession, despite this West Brom had five shots on target to Manchester United’s three. West Brom failed to get anything out of the game and once again Manchester United secured three points.
