My Socceroos Line up vs Japan
Goal Keeper: Matt Ryan: Has reached the pinnacle of his career after signing with Brighton. Number one goal keeper at nation level at the moment.
Right Back: Ryan Mcgowan: A player who needs some game time for the socceroos in order to gain belief in himself.
Centre Back: Trent Sainsbury (Vice Captain): Hasn’t put a foot wrong in his performance with the national team.
Centre Back: Matt Spiranovic: Has always performed admirably when given the opportunity with the national side.
Left Back: Alex Gersbach: Had a brilliant game when called upon in the Confedarations Cup. Was surprised he wasn’t utilized in the final group game of the competition.
Centre Midfield: Aaron Mooy: Has performed superbly for Huddersfield in the English Premier League. His selection is a no brainer.
Centre Midfield: Mark Milligan (Captain): Has shown his worth through playing different positions. Probably the best utility and most versatile player in the country. A natural leader and therefore deserves the captains arm band.
Centre Midfield: Jackson Irvine: Is doing well at club level and has played well when called upon for the Socceroos.
Attacking Midfield: James Troisi: Scored an instinctive goal in the final group game of the Confederations Cup.
Attacking Midfield: Matthew Leckie: Has been a game changer throughout the Asian Cup. Always has great endeavour and is capable of being a dangerous player in the final 3rd.
Striker: Tim Cahill: No one else has put their hand up to play as a striker for the current Socceroos. Always puts in a good shift for the national team.
First Substitute: Jamie Maclaren: Showed his potential wining the golden boot in the A-League last season. Needs a goal at international level to demand a position in the national team.
Second Substitute: Tomi Juric: Is capable of scoring crucial goals for the Socceroos.
Third Substitute: Awer Mabil: A good option to have off the bench. He played well under Gombau at Adelaide United. His enthusiasm is infectious.
